SIKH GURDWARA DC – HOSTS GURPURAB OF CHAAR SAHIBZAADE, MATA GUJRI JI, MAI BHAGO JI AND SACRIFICES OF ALL SINGHS IN THE POH OF 1704

The Sikh Gurdwara DC with Harpreet Kaur leading this effort, hosted on February 2 its annual Gurpurab event and Shaheedi Samagam with more than 100 youth participating from its Khalsa School; Guru Nanak Foundation of America (Maryland); Baltimore Sikh Society (Maryland); Harmandir Academy (Virginia and Maryland); Baltimore Sikh Association (Maryland); Sikh Centre of Virginia; Sikh Foundation of Virginia and the Washington Sikh Centre DC. Youth ages from 3 to 25 conducted the entire Deewan including Ardas, Hukumnama, Anand Sahib and Samapti and performed an entire day of beautiful Shabad, Kirtan, Kavita and Speeches to honor this Gurpurab. As in previous years, one of the highlights of this event is the Honoring Ceremony for the Mata Gujri Inspiring Grandparents Award – this year the recipients of this award were Inderpal Singh and Surjeet Kaur Bakshi from Virginia. The Sikh Gurdwara DC looks forward to continuing this annual event in cooperation with other Gurdwaras and institutions in the DC/Maryland/Virginia (DMV) area. This event is critical in bringing together the community of the DMV area and encouraging our youth to continue learning about and practicing our Sikh faith.
